An emotional war saga of the Women’s Royal Naval Service—the Wrens. Finding sisterhood and purpose in their work as a motorcycle dispatch riders, they were assigned to train and deliver carrier pigeons to the front line in both world wars. This is their story from the perspective of two brave women.

The Prizes
Month 1
Congratulations to the winner Danielle R.
Congratulations to the winner Danielle R.
Runs August 14 through September 14
Theme: Unique to You
A note from Jenni: For me, a messenger bag is iconic to the Wrens. The women slung them over their shoulders, mounted their motorcycles, and off they heroically went. Each Wren has a unique story, their own motivations, goals, and aspirations. This rings true for Marion and Evelyn in The Call of the Wrens and I hope you enjoy reading about what called them to join the Wrens. For our first gift, I'd love to gift a lucky winner a messenger bag, stitched with your initials.
"While she drove, she imagined herself with a pivotal missive tucked into a shoulder bag. A missive she’d deliver that could make a difference in the Battle of Britain." |
Month 2
Congratulations to the winner Terri R.
Runs September 15 through October 14
Theme: Fall for Books
A note from Jenni: I'm so excited about a fall candle plus a bookish scarf for our second prize! The fall season is a big one for my characters. It's when WWII starts and Evelyn is forced to evacuate from her home and to stop racing, catalysts for her deciding to risk it all and become a Wren. It's when Marion decides to become a Wren a second time. Years later, it's also when Evelyn must dust herself off and begin again. The idea of lighting a fall candle, with scent notes of cider, cinnamon, cloves, apple, and nutmeg, to enhance these scenes sounds so fun to me--and I hope it does to you too! Plus, how cool is this scarf, which is inspired by Marion? In The Call of the Wrens, Marion works as a librarian for a season of her life between being a Wren in the First and the Second World Wars. I think this library card scarf would be right up her alley!
"Funny how each season of life can bring about new perspectives. As I’ve questioned what’s next for me, I’ve come to the conclusion that I no longer want to live in my past." |
Month 3
Congratulations to Kerry H.
Runs October 15 through November 14
Theme: Reader Must Haves
A note from Jenni: As a ginormous thank you for all those who have preordered The Call of the Wrens, I'm making this prize the biggest yet--and also a prize of some of my favorite things.
In my Instagram stories, you'll often see me wrapped up in this very comfy throw blanket with a coffee or tea in hand. I love the blanket so much I have it in two colors. And this "One More Chapter" Mug seems oh so fitting. I also love when my nails match the book I'm reading. This shade from Olive and June is perfection. I don't know why, but matching book & nails makes the reading experience that much more fun. So does a truly beautiful book cover, and this painted cover for Jane Eyre is stunning. Jane Eyre also happens to be a very, very important book for my character Marion. All around, I am so thrilled to be gifting a reader some of my (and Marion's) favorite things. I hope the lucky winner will love them as much as I do! "Marion would read. She was a reader. Her friends were the always-present Jane Eyre, Anne Elliot, and the Dashwood sisters." |
